Leading the fundraising and alumni relations activities for University of Toronto Scarborough, the Development & Alumni Relations Office (DARO) supports the campus and over 65,000 alumni. Your Opportunity

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, Development and Alumni Relations (DARO), the Director of Development is part of the senior management team and provides leadership, strategy and management of U of T Scarborough’s fundraising staff. In collaboration with the Executive Director, DARO , the incumbent provides leadership in the preparation, implementation and management of a division-wide development strategic plan; trains, coaches and develops the call officer team; provides leadership, guidance and advice to departmental chairs and directors with respect to specific fundraising projects; ensures necessary operational procedures and systems are in place to support development activities; oversees a comprehensive stewardship program. The Director also collaborates with the Executive Director, DARO in the management of volunteers. The Director will hire, train, develop and manage a dynamic team of development professionals and will liaise closely with departmental staff involved in advancement activities. The incumbent works closely with others as a member of the Development and Alumni team at U of T Scarborough and the Division of University Advancement.

 

Qualifications

 

Education:

 

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years’ experience in an advancement role, with demonstrated experience in major gifts as well as capital campaigns, preferably in a university environment in a senior development portfolio.

  • Experience developing and executing multi-faceted advancement programs is required.

  • Demonstrated experience with direct supervision of staff is a strong asset.

 

Skills:

 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email and internet software; familiarity with donor management systems such as Raiser’s Edge; knowledge of Blackboard an asset.

 

Other:

 

  • Ability to project manage, multi-task and work toward deadlines in a hectic environment and to high performance standards.

  • Outstanding communication skills (oral and written). Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate others.
