SPA321H5F Advanced Spanish I
This course is designed to enhance students' abilities to engage with native Spanish speakers in culturally appropriate ways, tackle problem-solving situations, express complex opinions, emotions, and wishes, and provide detailed descriptions and comparisons of authentic materials from the Spanish-speaking world. It offers an advanced Spanish curriculum tailored for non-native speakers, focusing on a thorough review of complex grammatical structures and intensive practice in both written and oral expression to improve overall proficiency.
Class schedule: Tuesdays (1:00pm-3:00pm) and Fridays (11:00am-12:00pm)

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,510.04 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,760.28 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,030.36 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
PhD degree in Spanish Studies is required.
Demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course is required.
Demonstrated experience teaching a university-level Spanish language course is required.
(Near-)native Spanish fluency is required.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
