The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital are seeking applications for the Odette Professorship in AI for Medical Imaging at St. Michael’s Hospital-Unity Health Toronto. The successful candidate must currently hold a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and an Active Staff appointment at Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital. This is a five-year, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital term Professorship. The tentative start date of this appointment is June 1, 2021.


The successful candidate will be a clinician-scientist with the ability to lead a world-class research program related to applied artificial intelligence in medical imaging that aligns with the strategic priorities of Unity Health Toronto. A background in computer science is preferred as is familiarity with machine learning approaches in medical imaging such as convolutional neural networks. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of medical imaging systems and proven success in the development and deployment of AI medical imaging solutions into clinical practice.


Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital policies. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including grants, peer-reviewed publications, program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows) and contributions to the field. The Professorship will support academic activities of the incumbent, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events.
