Based at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, the Discovery Pharmacy combines our research, education and innovation excellence to model and evaluate cutting-edge health service delivery. As part of the University of Toronto’s interdisciplinary health care education and research ecosystem, Discovery Pharmacy will provide health care programs for the U of T community.

 

Under the direction of the Chair of the Board of Directors of Discovery Pharmacy Inc. and the Executive Director, Discovery Pharmacy & Director, Strategic Initiatives, the incumbent has overall responsibility for the pharmacy operations, ensuring it is managed effectively and efficiently with respect to staffing, equipment, and other resources.

 

As Pharmacist I, you will execute Pharmacy level operational policies and procedures in regards to pharmacy operations, prescription dispensing and the provision of patient focused services. The Pharmacist provides dedicated focus on customer needs in order to deliver quality customer service. The incumbent will collaborate with members of the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy with the mindset to operationalize the twin mission of the Discovery Pharmacy to be a “living laboratory” and a training hub, preparing our students to thrive in a re-imagined health-care system.

 

Duties include: Deliver high quality patient care and medication focused services as deemed eligible and appropriate for the patients; manages the work carried out by personnel and communicates with staff to identify and resolve staffing and/or equipment concerns and problems; meets with management team regarding pharmacy operations, scheduling, equipment, and material required for the clinics.

 

Qualifications Required:

 

Education:

 

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required. Licensed to practice in Ontario and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) Part A.

 

Experience:

 

5 years of professional pharmacy practice in the community or hospital setting. Trained to administer injections. Experience in virtual care technologies in health. Experience incorporating professional pharmacy services programs into community pharmacy environments.

 

Skills:

 

  • Superior customer relations skills and a strong sense of professionalism
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong personal computing skills, as well as knowledge of KROLL Pharmacy Computer system
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
     

Other:

 

Demonstrated ability to prioritize a consistent and varied workload.

 

Notes:

 

  • This is a term position for 12 months and is part-time at 40% FTE (2-days per week).
  • Travelling between the St. George Campus and Scarborough Campus may be required occasionally. 
  • Hours of work: 2-days per week with hours scheduled between Monday through Friday from 9:45 AM to 6:00 PM, with overtime required on a regular basis. 
  • There is a second vacancy for this position that is full-time (100% FTE) role and term for 12 months - Pharmacist I (46965). To be considered for both roles, candidates are to apply to each respective position separately
