Your opportunity:

The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga delivers registrarial services to support U of T Mississauga's academic goals and U of T priorities in the areas of student information, interpretation of policies, and innovation of registrarial interactions. Our core mission is effective and sustainable strategic enrolment management: student recruitment, retention, success and graduation. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Admissions, the Admissions Officer works alongside other members of the Student Recruitment and Admissions team to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to assist the University of Toronto Mississauga in achieving its enrolment intake.

Having a broad understanding of domestic and international secondary and post-secondary education systems, the Admissions Officer supports the admissions process by assessing and processing admissions applications with accuracy and efficiency. Working closely with academic departments, the Officer conducts transfer credit assessment and maintains course equivalency information. Together with the Academic Advising team, the Officer will help respond to inquiries and provide advising services to prospective and newly admitted students using extensive knowledge of the university’s policies and procedures as they relate to transfer credits and other admission pathways.

As a member of the Student Recruitment and Admissions team, the Admissions Officer contributes to overall U of T Mississauga recruitment and admission objectives, through the delivery of accurate and timely student-focused services, and positively represents U of T Mississauga through active participation in special events.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Applying established standards when administering a process for consistent evaluation of applications
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • Reviewing and assessing admissions applications
  • Providing detailed explanations of admissions decisions
  • Applying established standards to ensure adherence with transfer credit rules and guidelines
  • Providing detailed information on processes, policies and procedures
  • Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices and industry standards
  • Keeping well-informed on University programs, policies and procedures

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Minimum four years’ experience in a university or post-secondary environment in registrarial services
  • Experience reviewing, assessing and advising undergraduate students on admissions, transfer credit and academic requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of domestic and international educational systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of undergraduate admissions and transfer credit assessment processes
  • Solid understanding of undergraduate policies and procedures and admission requirements
  • Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in student information systems and MS Office with advance knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to learn new systems and to develop and maintain web-based information and applications
  • Excellent analytical and interpretative skills with the ability to understand and apply a large amount of information and complex set of regulations and guidelines with minimal supervision
  • Strong Communication and interpretation skills, using and sound judgement
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet competing priorities and deadlines
