Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Associate Registrar & Director, Student Recruitment &Admissions, the incumbent plays a key supporting role in guiding the strategic direction, management and planning of undergraduate admissions at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Working closely with the Associate Registrar & Director, Student Recruitment & Admissions and the Associate Director, Student Recruitment the incumbent develops strategies for achieving enrolment targets and admitting a diverse class of exceptional students from around the world. The incumbent is also responsible for providing information and advice to undergraduate departments concerning the admission process and meeting departmental admissions goals. They act as the primary resource within the division for admissions guidance and queries. Making maximum use of information technology, the incumbent is responsible for the overview and workflow of admissions systems, functions, and processes at the University of Toronto Mississauga. The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing and steering admissions to alternate admissions pathways, including, but not limited to, Transfer Credit, Bridging Pathways Academic Culture and English (ACE), and the Refugee Pathway.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
EDUCATION:
University degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of six (6) years of progressively senior management experience within a University or College setting in a registrarial services and admissions environment. Extensive experience overseeing undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and processes. Demonstrated experience leading and managing/supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment that are responsible for processing admissions decisions. Project management experience. Knowledge of best practices in both domestic and international enrolment management, of student information systems, statistical interpretation, current technologies and of Canadian and international trends in student recruitment and admissions as well as communicating to a wide variety of audiences i.e. prospective students, parents and high-school advisors., parents and high-school advisors. Excellent knowledge of University of Toronto programs and admissions requirement and of the overall university structure is an asset.
SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with students, co-workers, senior university administrators, and external clients. Strong organizational, planning, time management skills and the ability to set priorities. Team building, conflict management and investigation skills. Expert knowledge of a student information system, preferable ROSI (Repository of Student Information). Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel and Word. Strong computer skills and ability to use ROSI, Access, database management, and other software applications, knowledge of SQL is an asset.
