Description:

The Associate Registrar and Director, Student Recruitment and Admissions is a key member of the Office of the Registrar’s senior management team and has oversight of the student recruitment and admissions office including the communications and marketing team, the overall co-ordination of student recruitment (domestic and international), admissions assessment and recruitment events at the University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM).  In consultation with the Registrar and Director of Enrolment Management, the Associate Registrar and Director is responsible for establishing policies, practices and procedures for student recruitment and admissions.

 

As a key member of the tri-campus Strategic Enrolment Management Group, the Associate Registrar and Director, Student Recruitment and Admissions helps to establish enrolment goals and objectives, develops and implements strategies and initiatives to assist UTM achieve its enrolment goals, reviews and revises existing policies and practices to ensure consistency with overall enrolment management objectives, and recommends changes to policies and practices as necessary. The Associate Registrar and Director is responsible for monitoring admissions and enrolment statistics and preparing summary reports as well as conducting research into the effectiveness of enrolment management practices at UTM. The Associate Registrar and Director prepares complex statistical reports, cost and market analyses for discussion at senior levels of the University. 

 

The Associate Registrar and Director, Student Recruitment and Admissions has oversight over all student recruitment activities and strategies for UTM prospective students, their parents and other key influencers.  The Associate Registrar and Director is a key member of the First Entry Group which oversees the operation from a University of Toronto wide perspective and is expected to play an important role in tri-campus recruitment activities for the University.  The Associate Registrar and Director is responsible for the continued development of UTM admissions policies and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

 

EDUCATION:

University degree or acceptable combination of education and experience in the area of Student Recruitment and Admissions.

 

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of eight (8) years of senior administrative experience within a University or College setting with at least five (5) years’ experience in student recruitment and  admissions, advising/counselling students in admissions, or related areas.  A minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory and management experience.   At least three (3) years’ experience in admissions and assessment of university applicants including experience with national and international credentials.   Knowledge of University of Toronto programs and admission requirements and of the overall university structure would be an asset. Project management experience.  Experience in public speaking and presenting to small and large audiences.  Experience managing budgets where independent decision-making, initiative and attention to detail is required.

 

SKILLS:

Strong computer skills and ability to use ROSI, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel and Word. 

 

 

 

 

OTHER:

Current advanced knowledge of best practices in post-secondary student recruitment and admission. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and develop good working relationships with students, co-workers, senior university administrators, and external clients. Team-building, conflict management and supervisory skills. Good knowledge of university policies, procedures.  Strong organizational, planning, time management skills and the ability to set priorities. Highly developed computer skills. Ability to analyze complex technical tasks and implement solutions. Ability to think logically and consistently, plan, coordinate, commitment to improving the work environment, ability to negotiate and organize a heavy workload. Ability to recognize and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive personal and operational information. High degree of professionalism, tact, patience, discretion and good judgment.
