Your opportunity:

The Facilities Planner will be engaged in a diverse range of projects of various complexities. You will play a key role in the development of university sites, from pre-planning and feasibility studies to space programming and analysis plus envisioning new models to enhance our built and open space environments. 

You will maintain knowledge of the University’s campus-wide frameworks including campus master plans, open space plans, city approved development plans and applicable zoning by-laws, as well as monitor campus-wide related matters that may impact University capital projects or the campus experience. You will support municipal policy review related to the University of Toronto’s mission at the Mississauga campus level. You will provide top-level service to stakeholders and clients and support planning projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Producing technical documentation and CAD drawings for approval
  • Developing technical specifications for inclusion on CAD drawings
  • Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices and industry standards
  • Determining logistical details required for internal moves
  • Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum six to seven years experience in planning and/or architecture
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills (i.e. Microsoft and CAD)
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem- solving skills.
  • Superior report writing skills, verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent record keeping skills and management of correspondence.

  • Architectural experience is an asset.
