Your opportunity:



Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the Parking Control Assistant will monitor parking areas, enforcing the University's parking regulations and ensuring vehicles park in designated spaces. Using a handheld device or license plate scanner, they will identify violations and issue municipal parking tickets for non-compliance.

Must be able to obtain MLEO certification from the City of Mississauga within 2 months of hire, and maintain/re-certify as necessary.

They will respond to inquiries and concerns related to parking regulations and procedures, providing information on parking rules, ticket payment options, or the appeals process. They will assist patrons using pay machines, troubleshooting issues and submitting service requests as needed. They may also help direct traffic and ensure everyone parks safely.


Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Patrols the campus to monitor and control the parking of vehicles
  • Issues Parking Violation Notices to vehicles in violation of the University's parking regulations
  • Advises and assists faculty, staff, students and visitors with respect to the parking of vehicles on campus
  • Instructs drivers on all parking-related matters
  • Submitting service orders

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of related experience.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Considerable customer service and public relations skills (tact, diplomacy and discretion)
  • Must be able to qualify as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer in relation to the Issuing of Parking Violation Notices
  • Must be in possession of a Provincial Class 'G' driver's license in good standing
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be comfortable communicating with various internal and external stakeholders including the City of Mississauga

USW Pay Band 05 -- $52,481. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $67,115. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
