Your opportunity:

As a Senior Financial Officer, you will be joining a team of Finance experts in Budget, Planning and Finance to
provide the U of T Mississauga community with assistance and information on all aspects of accounting, finance,
budgeting, financial systems and project management. The U of T Mississauga community will trust you to be their
true partner in all things Finance. You will also possess superior verbal and written communications skills and a
high level of professionalism

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Overseeing the financial management of budgets that include strategic planning, analysis and forecasting
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Forecasting and planning financial activities incorporating budgets with multiple sources of revenue and/or recoveries
  • Advising staff on accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Recording detailed transactions for many accounts including payroll

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to identify critical issues and problem solve independently.
  • Advanced computer skills: MS Excel (advanced formulas & functions, pivot tables), MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Experience dealing with various levels of the organization, including those without financial background.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and initiative.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • Confidentiality is mandatory.
