FSC316H5F – Forensic Anatomy – Emergency Posting

 

Course Description: This course examines the body as forensic evidence. Human gross anatomy and histology will be examined from the perspective of forensic pathology, students will learn about the role of the body in crime scene analysis, autopsy procedures such as fingerprinting and forensic imaging of the deceased, and address anatomical anomalies useful for forensic purposes such as identification. Other topics include bodily decomposition, disease, and injuries.

 

Session: September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025

 

Lectures: Monday 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (In-person)

 

Practicals: Monday 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Tuesday 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Wednesday 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and Thursday 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (In-person)

 

Estimated Course Enrolment: 80

 

Number of Positions: 1

 

Size of Appointment: 140 hours (total number of assigned hours is dependent on course enrolment and course approvals)

 

Hourly wage: $54.27

Qualifications: Applicants will have a PhD (in-progress or completed) in Forensic Anthropology (or closely related field).  Experience, knowledge and specialized training in human anatomy and/or pathology is required; demonstrated excellence in course subject matter; knowledge and experience in Canadian-based death investigations.

 

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience working in Forensic Pathology, or in a closely related field. Relevant qualification, professional designation or professional experience are assets. We are seeking previous experience in teaching, mastery of subject area, forensic science background, and professional experience. Experience with management and delivery of courses using University of Toronto or similar systems (e.g., Quercus, Canvas-based technologies, Zoom, etc.) is preferred.

 

Duties: Prep and delivery of weekly 2-hour labs and all lab demonstratives; Group in-lab supervision;  Assist with marking/grading assignments; Grade entry on Quercus;  Oversee, schedule  and organize mock trials to ensure smooth execution of trial exercise.
