Course description:
This course is open to all students on campus and provides an intellectual toolset for finding innovative solutions to complex problems. Students will learn to apply education theory to design thinking models in order to identify and solve real-world challenges facing their chosen discipline, whether in business, education, healthcare, etc. An iterative approach for testing, refining, and improving their idea will be used to create a working prototype of their proposed solution. This will demonstrate the idea's sustainability, scalability and viability, while taking into account ethical and legal implications.

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
Applicants must have completed a Ph.D..
Demonstrated current knowledge of teaching and pedagogy and its application is required.
Preferred qualifications:
Demonstrated experience using new technologies to lead equity-focused design projects is preferred.
Experience teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
Description of duties:
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments,tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings; supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course.
