Course Number and Title: PSY471H5 S - Special Topics in Cognition

 

Course Description:  In-depth examination of selected topics in cognition. Topics change periodically. The contact hours for this course may vary in terms of contact type (L, S, T, P) from year to year, but will always be 36 hours in total. See the UTM Timetable.

Prerequisites: PSY270H5 and 1.0 credit from (PSY312H5 or PSY315H5 or PSY360H5 or PSY362H5 or PSY372H5 or PSY374H5 or PSY379H5 or PSY393H5 or PSY397H5)
Exclusions: PSY471H1 or PSYD50H3

 

Estimated course enrolment: 14

 

Estimated TA Support:  22 hours (total number of assigned hours is dependent on course enrolment and course approval)

 

Class schedule:
Lecture - In Person: 
Tuesday 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

 

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 - April 30, 2025

 

Salary: (In accordance with CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement):

 

  •  $9,457.90 for Sessional Lecturer I
  •  $9,930.79 for Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term
  •  $10,121.77 for Sessional Lecturer II
  •  $10,362.76 for Sessional Lecturer Ill

 

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.


Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D degree or be in the final stages of a PhD. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications and suitability for the position.

 

Description of duties: Preparation and delivery of course content; creation of course material, development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the supervision of teaching assistants for leading tutorials and grading and marking student work; submission of final grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours for student contact outside of scheduled contact hours.
