The BRIDGE is a joint venture between UTSC’s Department of Management and the UTSC Library. It is where business, research and innovation converge, delivering extraordinary student experiences through entrepreneurship, research, advanced training programs, and work-integrated learning. Our state-of-the-art facility includes a business research library, finance and data lab, collaboration space. We are a U of T accelerator focused on formation of student ventures, and a pathway for industry and community partnerships. The Finance & Data Lab is a state-of-the-art computer lab featuring 50+ extra wide-monitor terminals and 4 Bloomberg terminals. The lab features specialized software including Capital IQ and FactSet, among others. The lab features course integrations, student club collaborations and experiential learning. The UTSC Library is a leader in academic library service and program development. The library supports research and study by housing an extensive network of scholarly materials available in the lab.

Your opportunity:
As a key member of The BRIDGE team, the Finance & Data Lab Resource Developer, plays a critical role in preparing students for careers in capital markets, investment banking, asset management, graduate studies and related fields. Reporting to the Director of Operations &Library Services, the role combines hands-on instruction with program development, industry engagement, and experiential education.
The incumbent will design and deliver curricular and co-curricular sessions focused on financial research tools (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg, CapIQ) and data analytics platforms (e.g., R, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI). They will also mentor students and support experiential learning initiatives like the UTSC Trading Competition and the UTSC Student Managed Fund—giving students practical exposure to real-world investment and risk analysis. This role also supports faculty in their research and instruction. This is a collaborative, supportive environment with strong connections to finance industry partners and a focus on bridging academic theory with professional practice.
This role will also liaise with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), in order to align the development of curriculum and best practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing components of instructional programs (including curricular, co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities)
- Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
- Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
- Developing content for instructional workshops
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
- Researching and recommending educational technologies and best practices related to teaching and learning
- Conducting financial research and analysis (including market data to inform programming)
- Promoting events and programs to target audiences
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, or related discipline; or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum five (5) years of recent and related experience, preferably in an academic, finance or capital markets environment
- Experience developing instructional design plans, implementing and delivering instructional/training programs involving financial technologies and financial theories and concepts, and conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform planning
- Must have strong understanding of the finance sector, or experience working in the finance industry
- Experience and strong proficiency using financial research and analysis applications (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg, CapIQ), data analytics tools (e.g. R, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau) and Excel, including VBA programming
- Experience conducting financial research, market data analysis and financial modelling
- Experience providing support and feedback on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum and co-curriculum programs, or training programs
- Experience coordinating networking opportunities, work-integrated learning and experiential learning opportunities
- Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, presentation and written skills
- Demonstrated understanding of capital market theory, portfolio management and market microstructure
- Ability to stay abreast of current business news, financial markets, financial literacy and related trends
- Self-motivated, creative thinker with proven ability to take initiative and problem-solve
- Expert in prioritization, organization, good judgment and decision-making skills
- May require extended or unusual working hours based on program support and operational needs
