Your opportunity:

 

Under general direction, schedules the daily activities, leads, directs, trains, and works with a group of Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Workers. Performs maintenance, repair, checks and installation duties to ensure buildings, building fixtures and equipment are maintained to standard.

 

Typical Duties

Flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety of functions is necessary in successfully fulfilling the requirements of this position. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work.


a) Provides direction to and works along with the Maintenance Technicians and/or Maintenance Workers.
b) Reviews work orders. Determines service order priorities based on target completion dates, availability of staff, current workload and status of ongoing work assigned.
c) Assigns work orders based on such factors as workload, nature of the work, priorities, target completion dates and locations.
d) Assists in implementing and guiding preventative maintenance and scheduled maintenance processes.
e) Tracks progress of jobs assigned; checks work completed; ensures that quality and safety standards are met.
f) Acts as technical resource to Maintenance Technicians/Workers and clients. Provides assistance to clients with respect to ad hoc requests and minor maintenance and renovation work.
g) Sources supplies and special order items, requests quotes and orders products within established guidelines and budget.
h) Liaises with supplier for routine order processing and receipt of goods. Keeps records related to order processing. Properly stores and maintains an inventory of materials and equipment; and orders supplies as applicable.
i) Records, reports and takes corrective action for building/fixtures/equipment requiring maintenance or replacement.
j) Provides technical instructional training/demonstration to staff.
k) Assigns billing hours to completed work orders; and prepares time sheets for authorization and submission to HR/Payroll for processing.
l) Performs duties of a Maintenance Technician.

 

Qualifications Required: 


Education: Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Leadership training/maintenance courses or technical certification is desirable.


Experience: Four years related experience. Demonstrated leadership ability. Previous supervisory experience an asset.


Other: Ability to lead, direct and train others; strong administrative skills; ability to prioritize; strong judgement and analytical skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to work with minimal supervision; tact, courtesy and patience dealing with clients and staff. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience performing a variety of building maintenance tasks. Knowledge and experience of building maintenance are repair practices, demonstrated ability to become familiar with building operations, floor plan, equipment and related health, safety and cleanliness standards. Proven ability to effectively and safely use and operate small hand tools, power tools, ladders and elevated platforms. Demonstrated physical and technical ability to perform required duties. Familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations that apply to this work. ability to communicate effectively in English (both orally and written); ability to communicate effectively using tools such as cell phone, pager, radio; Computer skills required.
