Your opportunity:

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) unit in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine (TFOM) is one of the world’s largest providers of continuing education and professional development programming for physicians and other health professionals. CPD facilitates and supports the development of a full range of specialized medical education programs. Working with program directors and conference chairs from across the TFOM, CPD accredits close to 300 programs and conferences per year that attract over 40,000 learners from across Canada and internationally.

As Accreditation Specialist, you will work collaboratively with the Associate Director, Maintenance of Certification & Education Consultation and the Associate Dean, Continuing Professional Development to lead and oversee the entire lifecycle of accreditation and review processes for all applications submitted to CPD for accreditation. Leveraging your extensive knowledge and expertise in medical education, continuing professional development best practices, and accreditation standards, you will ensure the highest levels of compliance and quality assurance. You will play a pivotal role in guiding and advising faculty, staff, and CPD community members through complex accreditation processes, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Applying your judgement and experience, you will facilitate consensus-based decision making within the Accreditation Team. You will routinely liaise and collaborate with national partners and colleagues across the country on accreditation related matters, including changes in process and standards. You will also provide guidance and expertise in compliance with the audit and review practices of the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME).

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Coordinates the entire lifecycle of accreditation applications, including advisory, submission, review, and post-program evaluation
  • Plans and monitors all financial aspects of the accreditation process, including forecasting, feeassessments, and budget reviews
  • Produces detailed statistical reports on accreditation data for internal and external audiences
  • Implements robust quality assurance processes, including post-program reviews and ongoing audits, to ensure continuous adherence to accreditation standards
  • Analyzes and reports on accreditation trends, providing insights and recommendations for program improvement
  • Provides expert guidance on accreditation requirements and best practices, delivering training to staff and faculty, and provide support to ensure compliance


Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years' experience in accreditation, compliance, or quality assurance within a university, medical school, or teaching hospital
  • Experience planning and implementing accreditation reviews and audits
  • Experience advising on and assessing accreditation submissions and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Experience in managing documentation and record-keeping related to regulatory standards
  • Experience analyzing accreditation data and producing statistical reports
  • Experience providing guidance on accreditation requirements and best practices and delivering training
  • Experience working with accreditation bodies, such as Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCSPC) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Advanced proficiency in M365 (Excel), document management systems and online meeting platforms (Teams/Zoom)
  • Strong professional administrative skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Effective critical thinker with the ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions
  • Adaptive and evolving in approach to work, with excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Strong ethical standards, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity whenhandling sensitive information
