Description:

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are inviting applications to fill an academic Infectious Diseases position. This position will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description of either Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI) or Clinician Teacher (CT) at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The position is split between clinical infectious diseases and the role of Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), with approximately 30% of time protected for scholarly work. The expected start date is November 1, 2024, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
 
The successful candidate will have clinical expertise in the assessment and management of Infectious Diseases, IPAC, and either Quality Improvement or Medical Education. 
Candidates applying for a CQI role must have advanced training in quality or innovation, as well as a proven academic record of excellence in quality improvement as measured by peer-reviewed publications, awards, or other demonstrated impact. Candidates applying for the Clinician Teacher role should have advanced training and/or a track record of teaching accomplishment. Teaching accomplishment will be evaluated by the presence of a strong level of interest in education, excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, formal training in teaching methodology, teaching awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience. 
 
The successful applicant will join the Division of Infectious Diseases at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, which provides inpatient consultation services for complex patient populations spanning trauma, cardiac, oncology, long-term care, rehabilitation and other.  The Associate Medical Director role will involve supporting medical oversight of IPAC across Sunnybrook programs, as well as local congregate living settings in North Toronto.  

 

Successful candidates must hold an MD degree and post-graduate certification in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  
 
Estimated annual remuneration will be in the range of $300,000-$400,000 (fee-for-service estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, experience, and volume of patients seen. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and 
benefits will be administered. Successful candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
