The Department of Medicine, Temetry Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health (SH) is seeking to recruit a permanent, full-time Clinician Teacher (CT), Clinician Educator (CE), Clinicain Investigator (CI) or Clinician in Quality & Innovation (CQI) in Gastroenterology with advance training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HBP) therapeutic endoscopy. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor at the University of Toronto and hold MD and FRCPC qualifications or equivalent, be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Gastroenterology and have, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario.


The successful candidate must have advanced clinical training in HBP therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP and EUS, and clinical experience in a tertiary care center with liver transplant and hepatobiliary cancers.  The successful candidate will share 20 hours of ERCP time with another HBP therapeutic endoscopist, with additional half-day of EUS and half-day of GI Endoscopy. The desirable academic qualities of the successful candidate would include an appropriate graduate degree (MSc, MEd, or equivalent), fellowship training, relevant grants, and publications related to the academic role. In addition, a proven track record of excellent teaching abilities is required.


Depending on the academic rank, qualifications and experience, your expected take-home gross income will be approximately in the range of $450,000-650,000, taking into account of your clinical productivity and expenses.  However, your total income is not guaranteed, and is based, in substantive part, on the performance of expected clinical work as well as the current reimbursement rates for physicians from the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and the Ministry of Health. 


The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the UHN and SH is a group of 33 luminal gastroenterologists and hepatologists. The Division has active clinical and academic programs in many areas of gastroenterology and hepatology including IBD, nutrition, pancreatic cancer, neurogastroenterology and motility, viral hepatitis, cholestatic and autoimmune liver diseases, fatty liver, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplantation.
