Description:

A full-time position for a Staff Neonatologist is available in the Department of Paediatrics, Mount Sinai Hospital, 600 University Avenue Toronto, Ontario. Mount Sinai Hospital is an academic health science centre affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Department of Paediatrics at Sinai Health has a tradition of excellence in Neonatal clinical care, education and research and is closely allied to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Department provides primary and tertiary care at regional and provincial levels respectively for newborn infants and specialized services for the resuscitation of infants with known cardiac disease and other congenital abnormalities. The Department in conjunction with the division of Neonatology at the Hospital for Sick Children and Sunnybrook Hospital forms part of a Fellowship Training Program in Neonatology which is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to have at least 2 years subspecialty training in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine during fellowship, at least 5-7 years of experience working as an Assistant Professor rank or have an Associate Professor/Professor rank and demonstrate an academic commitment and excellence in clinical care. The position will involve working in Level 3 NICU, Mother and Baby Unit, antenatal clinic, and Neonatal Follow up clinic.

 

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. We are looking for individuals with special interest or training in subspecialty such as respirology, neurology, nutritional sciences or other. Rank and salary ($241,372 – $255,749) will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Individuals interested in leadership role are also invited to apply as this position has potential for assuming the role of Clinical Director of Nurseries (level 3 and level 1 nurseries) if appropriate qualifications and experience are demonstrated. The additional role of Clinical Director will be compensated with appropriate stipend. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care and academic allowance.

 

All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or the equivalent thereto must have specialty training in Pediatric Medicine and be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position will remain open until filled.
