Description:

The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Division of Cardiology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) are seeking to recruit a qualified full-time Clinical Academic Cardiologist with expertise in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) and CardioObstetrics. The successful candidate would fulfil the academic position description of Clinician Teacher (CT) or Investigator (CI) and must be eligible for academic appointment at the minimum rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed upon.
 
The successful candidate will have completed a 2-year fellowship in the management of ACHD and CardioObstetrics. The candidate will have appropriate experience or formal training in research or education in ACHD and CardioObstetrics, particularly a Masters or PhD, such that he/she/they will be able to collaborate, develop and/or maintain a research or educational portfolio in ACHD and CardioObstetrics.  An interest and/or expertise in echocardiography would be a strength.  The candidate will also be expected to work collaboratively to deliver high quality care to patients with complex ACHD and CardioObstetrics at the UHN/SHS.
 
The clinical position includes inpatient coverage of the ACHD service, and outpatient management of ACHD and CardioObstetrics patients is expected. A graduate degree relevant in research, education or equivalent, and a proven record of academic excellence in clinical research or education are strong pre-requisites. The successful applicant will have demonstrated the capacity for independent academic activity in the field of Cardiology, and is expected to advance the scholarship of ACHD and CardioObstetrics.

 

The successful candidate will report to the Division Head of Cardiology at UHN/SHS. Candidates must hold an MD degree or equivalent and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The primary language of work will be English. Compensation will depend on the amount of clinical work performed, (estimated based on fee for service billing) but will be in the usual range for an experienced academic Cardiologist in the Province of Ontario, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional sources of income from Alternate Funding Plans (AFPs) and merit awards from the Department of Medicine may be available. Health benefit options and plans are supplied per institutional policy. In addition, the candidate may be reimbursed partial start-up costs for office expenses.
