Description:

The Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedics at Sinai Health is inviting applications for the position of full-time Academic Orthopaedic Arthroplasty Surgeon. The effective date of this appointment is August 1, 2025.

 

The successful candidate will have an active staff appointment with clinical activities in the Division of Orthopaedics, Department of Surgery, at Mount Sinai Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality of clinical care to hip and knee arthroplasty patients and participate fully in a co-operative and collegial way with other members of the Division of Orthopaedics. As part of a specialized clinical program, the successful candidate will conduct a practice of surgery with a special expertise in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, robotics, and trauma care. It is anticipated that clinical duties will involve approximately 40% of their time. During the provision of clinical responsibilities, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be actively involved in supervising students, residents and other clinical trainees.  Furthermore, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will be engaged in clinical work that is in direct support of University academic work. The successful candidate’s research portfolio will be expected to involve approximately 40% of their time, with 20% of their time allotted to administrative and educational activities.

 

The successful candidate must be a fellowship-trained knee and hip arthroplasty surgeon and must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, with completion of a postgraduate degree program (i.e. MSc, MPH, PhD, MBA), eligible to hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and eligible for appointment in the Surgery and Oncology Program at Sinai Health and Mount Sinai Hospital. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing primary and complex revision knee and hip arthroplasty cases as well as provide management of fracture and trauma patients. Prioritization will be given to those with experience and interest in robotic-assisted joint replacement, complex revision knee replacement, and contemporary approaches to hip replacement. The successful candidate will have an interest in academic practice, a vision for research that aligns with the Division’s key priorities, and be eligible for appointment as a Surgeon-Investigator or Surgeon-Scientist. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. The successful candidate should possess strong leadership skills, professionalism and an ability to work in a team.

 

Sinai Health System (SHS) is a University of Toronto, fully affiliated academic hospital comprised of Mount Sinai Hospital, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, Lunenfeld-Tannenbaum Research Institute and Circle of Care, which combines acute care, complex and rehabilitative care, primary care and other community based services to create an innovative and integrated continuum of care with the goal to achieve the best outcomes and experiences and outcomes for our patients. The Division of Orthopaedics is comprised of 9 full-time clinical faculty members, within multiple programs, offering clinical care in the areas of lower extremity reconstruction, orthopaedic oncology, sports medicine, and foot and ankle surgery.  

Salary will be between the range of $350,000 to $500,000, as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on fee for service billings.
