Description:

The Department of Medical Imaging, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, in affiliation with Sinai Health, the University Health Network, and Women's College Hospital, is recruiting a full-time (100%) Cardiovascular and Thoracic Radiologist for the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging Division. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, or Associate Professor. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.


The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) operates across the University Health Network hospitals (Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute), Sinai Health System, and Women's College Hospital. The department provides a broad range of diagnostic and interventional services in cardiopulmonary transplantation, airways and asthma, pulmonary hypertension and chronic pulmonary embolism, interstitial lung diseases, oncology, and acquired and congenital cardiac diseases. Trauma imaging is not part of routine clinical activities.


JDMI has a state-of-the-art imaging infrastructure, including 15 CT scanners, 12 MRI scanners (including dedicated research units), 12 X-ray units, 42 ultrasound units, two PET-CT scanners, and one PET-MRI scanner. Cardiovascular and Thoracic Radiologists at JDMI interpret approximately 120,000 chest radiographs, 62,000 chest CT scans, 200 chest MRIs, and 6,700 cardiac imaging studies annually, in addition to performing more than 750 thoracic interventions. The successful applicant will join a team of 23 faculty members and 10 clinical fellows in the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging Division and will be actively involved in both teaching and research.


Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or an equivalent international body. They must have fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Radiology or equivalent specialized training with a strong clinical background in thoracic imaging. Experience with chest MRI and cardiac imaging is preferred, but not required. A demonstrated interest and prior engagement in research and teaching are expected. The successful applicant must be licensed, or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.


Compensation will be in accordance with the standardized salary for radiologists in the Province of Ontario, approximately $320,000–$420,000 per annum, and will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
