MedIT provides information technology support for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Our mission is to partner and collaborate with clients, University, and third parties to determine value based, sustainable technology solutions that enable the Faculty to achieve its academic mission. MedIT provides enterprise IT services for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, with a strong focus on utilization of the Microsoft 365 Platform, building and maintaining a robust and secure network infrastructure for staff, faculty and learners. 

 

As Associate Director, Technical Operations & Infrastructure, you will lead and mentor a group of Infrastructure, Technical Support, and AV Support teams to design, implement and maintain complex technical systems and services across our Faculty. Working closely with the Senior Director of Information Technology and MedIT senior leadership, you will play a major role in overseeing the continuous development and maintenance of a highly reliable, modern and enterprise-grade IT infrastructure; managing our Technical Support and AV operations to support our learners, faculty and staff and the delivery of multi-site medical education; and help optimize the activities of our Application and Data Architecture teams and departmental IT units within the Faculty. You will also assume full responsibility for hosting and operating a number of business-critical systems, our Faculty’s 10-building physical network infrastructure, and a variety of firewalls and other security services and systems. Your relentless pursuit of creating a culture of exceptional client service and IT Service Management best practices will enable our teams to deliver, track and monitor best-in-class performance and leverage emerging technologies to improve our IT operations and services. 

 

Essential Qualifications 

 

  • University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field; certifications or qualifications, such as PMP/PMI, ITIL, or Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Expert or Azure DevOps Expert. 
  • Eight years of experience in enterprise information technology operations leading teams in a university, government, healthcare setting or comparable environment 
  • Strong understanding of modern infrastructure technologies including data centers, networks, cloud and security 
  • Strong understanding of network design and secure architectures 
  • Proven success with agile project management software development methodologies 
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging trends in the use of education technologies, networks, distance education initiatives and diverse computer platforms in education 
  • Experience developing and leading high functioning teams, including the ability to engage and motivate staff and teams 
  • Strong financial acumen, including financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting experience 
  • Experience negotiating with service providers, establishing, and monitoring service level agreements 
  • Proven commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity 
  • Results oriented and the ability to build a high-performance culture 
  • Must be an articulate and effective communicator with the ability to produce high-quality, persuasive communications material 
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills with strong ability to exercise judgement, tact, discretion, and determination

  • Ability to seize opportunities to improve technology processes while managing multiple demands concurrently in a high-pressure environment 
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes 
  • Ability and inclination to keep one’s technical skills up-to-date and relevant
