Description:

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and West Park Healthcare Centre, University Health Network invite applications for the National Sanitarium Association (NSA) Chair in Respiratory Rehabilitation Research. The Chair term is five-years, renewable once for a second 5-year term contingent upon successful performance review. The appointment and re-appointment process of the Chair will follow the University of Toronto Policy on Endowed and Limited Term Chairs, Professorships, Distinguished Scholars, and Program Initiatives. The successful applicant must currently hold, or be eligible for, an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. 

 

The University of Toronto is a premier academic centre for respirology and rehabilitation sciences in Canada, with a portfolio of activities that encompass excellence in clinical practice, education, and research. West Park Healthcare Centre, University Health Network is a University of Toronto-affiliated specialized rehabilitation and complex continuing care hospital located in Toronto, Canada. The campus sits on 27 acres of land in north-west Toronto and is a 314-bed facility.

 

The successful candidate must hold either a medical degree or degree in a relevant healthcare discipline with clinical experience and hold Ontario registration or licensure or be eligible for licensure in Ontario.

 

The successful candidate will play a vital role in championing and advancing the program of respiratory rehabilitation research at West Park Healthcare Centre and interact with national and international research networks. The candidate will demonstrate evidence of an exceptional research track record through external funding, peer-reviewed publications, and invited lectureships. Documentation of outstanding teaching performance and track record in interdisciplinary graduate student and post-doctoral fellow mentorship and supervision in rehabilitation science is an asset. Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills, with demonstrated experience is essential. While clinical practice by the candidate may be undertaken at any of the University of Toronto Respiratory Divisional sites, the research supported by this Chair must be primarily conducted at the UHN-West Park Healthcare Centre site.
