Your opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Manager Child & Youth, and the day-to-day supervision of the Assistant Manager, Aquatics, the incumbent will participate as a key member of the Child & Youth area of the Co-Curricular program team. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating a range of physical activity & aquatic programs. The incumbent provides assistance in the development, planning, and implementation of a wide variety of programs including: classes, instruction, drop-in and high performance training. The position provides broad administrative support to the Child & Youth as well as the Co-curricular programs portfolio, specifically related to instructional classes, including student/member/participant relations associated with programs and events.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
- Ensuring others adhere to legislated regulations for swimming pools
- Ensuring that certifications and training are current for staff and/or rental groups
- Informing contacts of any changes or cancellations to programs and/or events
- Keeping well-informed on programs, services and facilities and coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars
- Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
- Organizing, summarizing and circulating program and/or course evaluations
- Directing the activities of, as well as training and coaching casual staff
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in physical health education or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Must have Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor certifications, current within two years of issue
- Must have National Lifeguard - Pool (LSS) certification, current within two years of issue
- Must have Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED (SJA, CRC or LSS), current within three years of issue
- Minimum two years administrative experience, preferably in a university athletics setting or a municipal recreational setting
- Minimum two years experience working in a variety of aquatics and physical activity programs for a wide range of clients
- Minimum one year of experience using Fusion or other recreation registration system
- High level of competency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication and editorial skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to deliver high quality work in an environment of overlapping, time sensitive tasks
- Ability to generate innovative ideas
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a team and independently
- Must have a sound understanding and commitment to equity and diversity matters.
Assets (Nonessential):
- A background in coaching and instruction of physical activity programs is a strong asset
- Airway Management or Oxygen Administration (LSS or RC), current within two years of issue

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 -- $66,715 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $85,319. Pay scale and job classassignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
