Your opportunity:

 

Under the general direction of the Assistant to the Dean, Student Life and Leadership (ADSLL) and reporting to the Dean of Students, the Coordinator, Student Leadership Development (CSLD) is responsible for supporting a variety of portfolios including student organizations and clubs, student leadership development, mentorship, community development, and partnerships with U of T services and offices supporting the student experience and their academic success. The CSLD is broadly responsible for supporting the best possible student experience at the College, with particular attention to the needs of our student groups and student organizations, as well as commuter and international students. 

 

The CSLD is a scholar-practitioner whose work is rooted in the best practice within student affairs. They are responsible for working closely with the Dean of Students and ADSLL in developing and implementing educational and transition programs and initiatives, including the identification of learning outcomes, pedagogical techniques, and evaluation methods. They will also support in the development and implementation of robust student life communications and student outreach framework.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Developing student assessment plans to support student learning outcomes and competencies
  • Conducting a detailed analysis of student feedback and learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Resolving minor interpersonal disputes between students and/or student staff

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of recent and related experience providing administrative and advising support to students, student leaders and student organizations in a post secondary education insitution 
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and assessing educational programs and initiatives designed to support student success in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing mentorship programming, and programming geared to commuter students.
  • Demonstrated experience with supporting students in distress and knowledge of risk management procedures.
  • Experience with evaluation and research tools, and demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data.
  • Experience in facilitating collaborative partnerships with a variety of university stakeholders including students, student leaders, staff, faculty, and alumni.
  • Experience advising student societies, levy groups, course unions, and/or clubs.
  • Experience supporting casual staff, work-study students and volunteers in a unionized environment; demonstrated experience taking a leadership and coaching role within teams.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing communications strategies for events and programming; experience creating promotional content for digital, print, and social media.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students, student leaders and organizations in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
