About us:

The Office of Student Recruitment (OSR) in University Admissions and Outreach is responsible for the strategic, university-wide approach to student recruitment to target and attract students to the University of Toronto. Working closely with academic divisions, OSR is responsible for regularly planning, implementing, assessing and revising a full spectrum of student recruitment initiatives.

Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Associate Director, University Student Recruitment, the Coordinator, Student Recruitment & Events works closely with the recruitment team and other members of the office and is responsible for positively representing the University of Toronto locally, nationally and internationally, in order to recruit well-qualified students. This role also works with other divisions across the tri-campus to create, organize, and execute shared and joint student recruitment events and activities to support the University-wide approach for student recruitment strategies and initiatives.

The incumbent will work closely with internal contacts to both in the office and the divisions to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach in student outreach. They will build a network of contacts in schools throughout the country and assist in the planning and coordination for events and programs, both on and off campus.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Acting as the first point of contact for event-related enquiries
  • Verifying details and necessary changes to event schedule
  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
  • Coordinating scheduled activities for functions
  • Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
  • Tracking and monitoring recruitment activities
  • Liaising with contacts to facilitate and initiate outreach opportunities
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counsellors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five (5) years in an undergraduate student recruitment and/or admissions environment within a large post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated experience advising prospective students and parents
  • Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, organizing and executing student recruitment event activities
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders to coordinate activities for functions and foster & maintain a network of contacts to support shared student recruitment strategies and initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience making recruitment presentations to large audiences; must possess experience presenting to diverse groups
  • Experience with web content development, data collection and manipulation, and online communication strategies targeted to prospective students and parents required
  • Experience using and maintaining an online database
  • Experience producing print publications, marketing materials, and web-based marketing materials required
  • Experience using social media within a marketing framework is required
  • Must have working experience with data manipulation, generating reports and statistical data
  • Must have strong oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including in-depth working knowledge of and extensive experience with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezie, HTML and Content Management Systems
  • Must have a strong, demonstrated interest in Social Media communications and their applications
  • Well-developed event management, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Must demonstrate initiative and tact in dealing with people at all levels and with people of varied cultural backgrounds
  • Record of strong customer service, orientation, diplomacy and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with issues and trends in student recruitment and communications
  • Must be willing and available to travel for 1-3 week periods at a time, several times per year and to work evening and weekend events as required
  • Valid driver’s license and passport are mandatory


Assets (Nonessential):

 

  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience and working knowledge of University of Toronto policy and procedures especially as it relates to student recruitment and admissions
  • Experience with CRM database is a definite asset
