The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest professional faculties at the University of Toronto. Today, it is one of the world's great law schools. The Faculty of Law is housed in the elegant, state-of–the-art Jackman Law Building alongside two historical buildings, Flavelle House and FalconerHall, on the St. George Campus in downtown Toronto.

Your opportunity:

Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) is an award-winning education engagement and support program for high school students facing barriers to postsecondary access. Founded in 2005 by the Faculty of Law, LAWS exposes program participants to legal thinking and the justice system through workshops, mentorship and employment programs. LAWS is a partnership between the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and is delivered at designated Toronto District School Board high schools.

Under the general direction of the Director, LAWS Program, the incumbent is responsible for supporting program activities and providing administrative support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Acting as the firstpoint of contact for general enquiries
  • Writing routine documents and correspondence
  • Updating and maintaining database records
  • Generating reports
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced college diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three years of related administrative experience, preferably within an education or community outreach setting
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience developing content for marketing, promotional and/or outreach materials
  • Experience determining logistical details and activities for events or programming
  • Ability to manage priorities and competing deadlines
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and community partners including staff, faculty, students, and volunteers
  • Financial management skills including experience recording expenses, issuing invoices, and processing accounts receivable
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated commitment to postsecondary access, community outreach, and equity, diversity and inclusion
