Your opportunity:
The Advancement Office at the Faculty of Arts & Science plays a critical role in achieving the future success of the Faculty. We are responsible for generating private-sector revenue to support the Faculty and all of its strategic priorities. Our department cultivates and sustains strong relationships with donors, global alumni and other community members.
The Development Officer (DO) will be part of a team working under the direction of the Director of Development, and will be tasked with the responsibility of identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors to the Faculty of Arts & Science at the Annual and Leadership Giving level (up to $50, 000). The incumbent will: develop and execute special fundraising campaigns, meet with donors to identify, cultivate and solicit for support and interest in the Faculty of Arts & Science; ensure proper stewardship of donations; preparing call reports, proposals, progress reports and prospect correspondence; collaborate with other members of the University’s Advancement community to develop and execute strategies, and realize goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
- Identifying, evaluating and recommending the necessary steps to bring the prospect closer to making a major financial commitment to the University
- Developing special annual or one-time fundraising campaigns that support strategic initiatives
- Conducting advanced research and analysis from a variety of sources to provide detailed background data on donors
- Developing and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activities
- Writing briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to track donor interaction
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience and education.
- Minimum three (3) years of fundraising experience with a proven track record of success, preferably in a University or non-profit environment
- Experience with identifying and cultivating steward prospects and donors at the leadership giving level (<$25,000)
- Demonstrated prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition experience
- Demonstrated experience drafting complex donor reports and communications
- Demonstrated project management, liaison and relationship management experience
- Provenability to motivate others, i.e. volunteers, team members, donors
- Evidence of leadership and initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail and, creativity
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex multi-stakeholder environments such as education and healthcare, working with academics and physicians whose vision for changing the world demands both excellence and results
- Highly developed computer skills working with MS Office; databases (including ARBOR); and contentmanagement systems
- Ability to work in a fast paced and results oriented environment
- Strong team player who values collaboration
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 14 -- $91,677. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $117,242. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
