Spaces and Experiences operates undergraduate and graduate student housing on the St. George campus. This includes Graduate House, Knox Residence, Chestnut Residence, with a new residence (Oak House) scheduled to open in the fall of 2025. The S&E Student Residences provide a residence experience that fosters community engagement, celebrates diversity, and keeps equity and inclusion at the forefront of our decision making and approach. Our goal is to offer the students the opportunity to live in an environment that provides programming, services, and interactions that positively contribute to their personal growth and academic success during their time at the University of Toronto. 

 

Your opportunity: 

 

Under the general direction of the Manager Building Operations and Services, and guided by the Project and Procurement Coordinator, the incumbent will support the launch of the newest student residence at the University of Toronto, as a member of the Inspection and Launch Team.  Primary duties will include conducting inspections of premises for deficiencies, tracking deficiencies, coordinating delivery of materials and equipment on site, providing access, testing installed systems, and preparing spaces for occupancy. 

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Inspecting the building and its contents for deficiencies and tracking the resolution of those deficiencies using established processes 

  • Coordinating movers and vendors on site 

  • Assisting the operations team with building preparation activities including receiving goods 

  • Providing access to authorized persons working on site 

  • Preparing spaces for occupancy 

  • Assisting the Project and Procurement Coordinator with the procurement of goods and services 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Essential Qualifications  

 

  • Education: College Diploma (2 years) or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Experience: Three (3) year of facilties experience 
  • Movement: The job require ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time in order to carry out inspections, as well as a high level of muscular coordination and/or manual dexterity where precision is essential. E.g., Processing a variety of documents or data input where corrections are permitted after the fact.
