The BRIDGE is a joint venture between UTSC’s Department of Management and the UTSC Library. It is where business, research and innovation converge, delivering extraordinary student experiences through entrepreneurship, research, advanced training programs, and work-integrated learning. Our state-of-the-art facility includes a business research library, finance and data lab, collaboration space. We are a U of T accelerator focused on formation of student ventures, and a pathway for industry and community partnerships. The BRIDGE connects the best academic theory with creative applications and aspiring minds.

The Finance & Data Lab is a state-of-the-art computer lab featuring 50+ extra wide-monitor terminals and 4 Bloomberg terminals. The lab features specialized software including Capital IQ and FactSet, among others. The lab features course integrations, student club collaborations and experiential learning. The UTSC Library is a leader in academic library service and program development. The library supports research and study by housing an extensive network of scholarly materials available in the lab.

Your opportunity:

As a key member of a dynamic team deeply committed to the success of students and faculty, the Finance & Data Lab Program Coordinator operates under the guidance of The BRIDGE, Director of Operations & Library Services. While maintaining connections and partnerships with finance industry professionals, the Finance & Data Lab Program Coordinator is responsible for providing high quality services to users of The BRIDGE's Finance & Data Lab to prepare students for their academic and professional pathways in the areas of finance and data. Working within an innovative, collaborative environment, the incumbent will provide mentorship to students.

The Finance & Data Lab Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering structured curricular and co-curricular instructional sessions on the use of financial research and analysis applications (for example: FactSet, Bloomberg, CapIQ) and data analytics tools (eg: R, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau), as well as providing support to researchers and instructors, creating and delivering experiential learning opportunities for students, including supporting the UTSC Trading Competition and UTSC Student Managed Fund.

The incumbent is also responsible for training and supervising a team of student employees.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Developing and implementing components of instructional programs (including curricular, co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities)
  • Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
  • Advising instructors on academic quality evaluation strategies
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Developing a comprehensive formal training program that supports operational objectives
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Researching and recommending educational technologies and best practices related to teaching and learning
  • Directing the activities of casual staff (and work-study)

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, or related discipline or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum four years related experience in an academic or corporate environment with experience developing instructional design plans, implementing and delivering instructional or training programs involving financial technologies and financial theories and concepts, conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform planning. Must have a strong understanding of the finance sector, or experience working in the finance industry.
  • Experience and strong proficiency using financial research and analysis applications (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg, CapIQ), data analytics tools (e.g. R, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau) and Excel, including VBA programming
  • Experience conducting financial research and analysis, including market data analysis to inform programs
  • Experience instructing and training users in the use of financial applications and databases, including financial modelling
  • Experience providing support and feedback on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum and co-curriculum programs, or training programs
  • Experience working with users to provide networking opportunities, work-integrated learning and experiential learning opportunities
  • Experience supervising staff (casual, work-study students)
  • Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, presentation and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of current business news, financial markets, financial literacy and related trends
  • Highly motivated, creative thinker with proven ability to take initiative and problem-solve
  • Excellent ability to work with a team as well as independently
  • Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
