Your opportunity:

The Human Biology Program at the University of Toronto is responsible for the meticulous undergraduate education in the interdisciplinary field of human biology. We strive to prepare students for future careers where an interdisciplinary education would be an asset, such as academic research and teaching, health professions, and public policy on research, health, education, and the environment. Our program’s core competencies include critical and creative thinking, self-directed learning, quantitative and analytical reasoning, effective communication, scholarship, and research. Strong academic relationships with other units is a key to the program’s success, by engaging the diversity and excellence of scholars in these other units to teach in our courses.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Recording detailed transactions for many accounts
  • Reconciling purchasing card statements
  • Checking that proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactions
  • Processing accounts payable according to the University Guide to Financial Management
  • Generating standard financial reports
  • Gathering information in preparation for budget planning
  • Maintaining a database
  • Identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies

 

EssentialQualifications:

 

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years recent and related experience with processing financial and payroll records and providing administrative support preferably in an academic environment.
  • Experience with recording and reconciling transactions for accounts.
  • Experience working with FIS and processing accounts payable and receivables or other related financial systems.
  • Experience with processing payroll on HRIS or other related payroll system.
  • Experience collecting data and generating reports including standard financial reports.
  • Experience maintaining filing systems and databases.
  • Experience identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies.
  • Experience with organizing the logistics of meetings and booking rooms including arranging catering and appropriate accommodations.
  • Experience writing routine documents and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in HRIS and FIS or other related financial systems.
  • Excellent problem solving and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
