Your opportunity:
The Department of Economics ranks among the top economics departments internationally and is ranked number one in Canada. Nearly 70 per cent of all students take at least one course in economics during their undergraduate studies and our faculty is committed to educating and inspiring them all. Teaching and research in our department span a wide range of fields including theory, applied data analysis and econometric methodology. Located in the downtown core of Canada’s largest city, our department is immersed in a rich environment of rapidly expanding business and financial capital.
Under the general supervision of the Associate Chair, Undergraduate Studies and in consultation with faculty and lecturers, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative support for the teaching of Economics course, particularly for first and second-year courses.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Disseminating program and/or service information
- Coordinating the submission process of student grades/marks
- Coordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course material
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, actions and follow-up items
- Proofreadingand fact-checking content
- Editing programs and service material
- Liasing with stakeholders to coordinate space and resource requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years of recent and related experience providing administrative support to university faculty, TAs, and staff in the coordination of labs for first and second-year courses
- Experience proofreading and formatting lecture notes, problem sets, tests and exams
- Demonstrated experience using software to scan and prepare tests/exams for marking
- Demonstrated experience working with databases and surveys and generating reports
- Experience working with and providing information to undergraduate students
- Demonstrated experience applying academic policies and processes
- Experience organizing and planning of meetings and events
- Well-developed and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access ROSI and Crowdmark
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
