The Centre for International Experience (CIE), within the Division of Student Life and the Office of Vice President International, provides students opportunities so they can expand their learning into the global arena. CIE enables students to expand their world to gain a global advantage. We work with students, academic units, local and global community to create sustainable and diverse learning abroad experiences that incorporate study, research and professional opportunities. We work in partnership with faculties and services to enable students new to Canada to maximize their time at U of T to meet their goals and aspirations on graduation. Finally, we work to build global learning opportunities on campus – curricular, co-curricular and experiential.

TheLearning Abroad Coordinator– International Experience Awards will, under the direction of the Learning and Safety Abroad Manager, coordinate International Experience (IE & IE+) awards offered to U of T students participating in a university-sanctioned learning abroad program. This includes but is not limited to coordinating award payments with internal and external contacts at the University.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate. Probing for information to establish needs.
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents. Generating reports.
  • Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required.
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities.
  • Tracking and monitoring information that affects the safety and security of others travelling abroad.
  • Disseminating program and/or service information.
  • Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Statistics, STEM, or in a relevant discipline or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of related experience in higher education and student advising.
  • Experience working with a diversity of international stakeholders and coordinating student mobility programs and awards.
  • Proven experience in working in flexible environments and in dealing with uncertainty.
  • Experience working with faculty, staff and students in a university setting, including high-level officials.
  • Experience and comfort in working with large data sets.
  • Computer software skills, including advanced Excel (formula functions, such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables) and use of web-based interfaces and databases.


Assets (Nonessential):

 

  • Knowledge of Excel macros is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the portfolio in international higher education landscape.

NOTE: This is a twelve (12) month term position.  Occasional flex time is required.

USW Pay Band 10 -- $70,844. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,595. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
