Description:

The Department of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, in conjunction with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a qualified full-time academic stroke specialist. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher (CT), Clinician Educator (CE), Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI), or Clinician Investigator (CI). The expected start date of the position is January 2, 2026, or thereafter.

 

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

 

The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated stroke clinicians, investigators, scientists and allied health disciplines recognized for their success in teaching, clinical trials, and scientific publication. At a minimum 1-2 years of stroke fellowship are required, with interest in seeing patients in a busy ambulatory secondary stroke prevention clinic. An interest in improving ambulatory processes of care for people with TIA and minor stroke is welcomed. There will be involvement in stroke call and inpatient service, training students, and participation in educational and QI activities of a stroke program (imaging rounds, INR rounds, and journal club.

 

Depending on the nature of the academic position the successful candidate will participate or lead in the educational programs at SMH-UHT and the University of Toronto and lead or collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Neurology at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division of Neurology, composed of 24 full time academic neurologists, has an international reputation in clinical research, education and quality improvement.
