Description:
NOTE: THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL MARCH 31, 2023.
The Department of Medical Imaging at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre along with the University of Toronto is recruiting a full-time radiologist in the Emergency & Trauma Radiology Division. The anticipated start date is December 1, 2022 or sooner if possible.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is a fully affiliated hospital of the University of Toronto with over 1,250 beds; 677 are dedicated to acute care (of which 128 intensive care). SHSC includes Canada’s first and largest trauma program and has a dynamic and busy Emergency Department (ED). The Emergency and Trauma Radiology Division (ETRD) is an integral part of the patient services at Sunnybrook, both for the ED population and emergencies of patients admitted to internationally acclaimed specialty programs, including the Tory Trauma Program, Odette Cancer Program, the Schulich Heart Program and the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program. Sunnybrook also has one of the largest critical care facilities in North America. Therefore, emergency radiologists encounter a broad spectrum of acute conditions: acute (poly-) trauma, neurologic emergencies such as stroke, cardiovascular emergencies, thoracic as well as abdominal emergencies and acute complications in oncology patients.
The department of Medical Imaging at SHSC is currently undergoing the largest upgrade of medical imaging equipment in more than a generation. Installment of 4 new MRI machines has recently been completed and the replacement of 4 CT scanners by state of the art machines is ongoing. A new multi-station reading room embedded in the ED is now in use, from where all acute care imaging is interpreted 24/7.
The SHSC radiology practice is composed of 45 subspecialty radiologists. The candidate will be a team member in the Emergency & Trauma Radiology Division which was founded in 2016 and provides interpretation of acute care imaging, including overnight on call coverage. The successful candidate will be expected to play a contributing role in all areas of subspecialty emergency and trauma imaging. The ETRD team members also rotate through the other divisions during regular work hours, reporting a mix of acute care and outpatient imaging studies.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the teaching faculty to our Undergraduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education, Residency and Fellowship Programs as a Clinician-Teacher.
The qualifying applicant should be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, hold a Fellowship in Diagnostic Imaging from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or international equivalent, and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario, with sufficient experience to perform subspecialty work in Emergency and Trauma Imaging. A year of dedicated fellowship training in Emergency and Trauma Radiology post residency graduation is essential.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Compensation is based on a fee-for-service model. The estimated income range will be $300,000 - $500,000 per annum for a full-time equivalent with opportunity for increased salary commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
The position will remain open until filled.
Qualified candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae and three references to:
