Course Description: This practical course offers piano teaching experience through observation, assistance in group classes and hands-on private lessons through the Children's Piano Pedagogy Program. All teaching scenarios are supervised and critiqued by the instructor through videotapes and on-site observations.

Class Schedule: Thursdays 4-5pm and observation times TBD

September 2025 to April 2026

Salary: $9,820.70

Qualifications: Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy or in Piano Performance with a cognate in Piano Pedagogy. Experience teaching pedagogy coursework at the university undergraduate and graduate levels is preferred. Additional experience leading a beginning children's group piano class, supervising graduate student teachers, and teaching experience at the RCM Levels Intro - Gr. VIII is also necessary.

Duties: Define course objectives; prepare course materials; provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations; teach classes as scheduled; administer and evaluate student assignments; prepare and submit final grade in accordance with policy. Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours.
