Your opportunity:
Based at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, the Discovery Pharmacy (DRx) combines our research, education and innovation excellence to model and evaluate cutting-edge health service delivery. As part of the University of Toronto’s interdisciplinary health care education and research ecosystem, Discovery Pharmacy will provide health care services and programs for the U of T community.
Reporting to the Pharmacist Lead, Discovery Pharmacy, the incumbent has responsibility for the day-to-day pharmacy operations, ensuring it is coordinated effectively and efficiently.
The incumbent is responsible for receiving patients incoming to DRx and the main patient facing duty is to serve as wayfinding and orientation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Resolving minor complaints within the scope of the role and referring larger issues when appropriate
- Collecting and passing on referrals according to pharmacists instructions
- Performing routine data entry
- Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents and billing information
- Submitting completed claim forms to the appropriate insurance agency
- Updating and maintaining patient charts
- Following rules and procedural instructions when opening and/or closing work area
Essential Qualifications:
- College Certificate in a professional Pharmacy Assistant Program or equivalent or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum two years of experience as a professional pharmacy assistant in the community pharmacy setting.
- Experience with OHIP/ODB and insurance billing practices.
- Proficient in using pharmacy management software (Kroll system, Pharmaconnect).
- Knowledge of PHIPA and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to incorporate new and emerging office information technology.

USW Pay Band 04 -- $49,424. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $63,207. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
