The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is recognized internationally for its clinical, educational and research excellence. Our faculty are clinical and academic leaders who are breaking new ground on issues ranging from inner city health, addiction medicine, global health, palliative care, immigrant and indigenous health and far more. The DFCM is home to the Physician Assistant (PA) Program, a full-time professional, second-entry undergraduate degree program delivered in collaboration with Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the Michener institute of Education at the University Health Network.
As the Physician Assistant (PA) Program Clinical Placement Coordinator, you will play an integral role in coordinating all mandatory clinical placements for our PA Students. You will be responsible for recruiting and maintaining relationships with existing practicum sites, ensuring all placement agreements and required documentation are submitted in a timely manner in accordance with University and site-specific policy, and advising both learners and preceptors regarding clinical placements. You will also assist preceptors with obtaining faculty appointments and promotions, if applicable. Your strong communication, organizational and critical thinking skills, attention to detail and program partner relations experience will be key to your success in this role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating clinical placement schedules and reviewing and assessing student learning outcomes
- Developing and maintaining templates for schedules, communications, plans, forms and procedural documentation
- Fostering and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders to support student placement activities
- Ensuring contracts and agreements are consistent with University standards and guidelines
- Applying established standards when assisting with faculty appointments and promotions
- Updating and maintaining records as they pertain to clinical placements
- Processing stipends and reimbursements
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years’ relevant administrative experience within an academic and/or health care setting
- Knowledge of clinical placement policies and processes
- Demonstrated experience coordinating rotation schedules and/or timetables
- Experience fostering and maintaining positive relations with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience maintaining databases and generating reports
- Experience in managing multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
- Experience coordinating events, workshops and seminars
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact; ability and willingness to work cooperatively in a challenging and dynamic environment
- Ability to use sound judgment under pressure, while using high degree of independence, initiative, tact and discretion
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, survey tools and video conference platforms (Zoom, MS Teams)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), judgement, organizational and analytical skills
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing policies and procedures

USW Pay Band 10 -- $70,844. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,595. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
