Your opportunity:
The Department of Surgery is a strong network of faculty and learners, and traverses six fully affiliated hospitals and an expanding number of community-affiliated hospitals. We have approximately 335 full-time faculty, 115 part-time faculty, 165 adjunct faculty and 40 research scientists. We are responsible for surgical teaching of all medical students throughout the four years of our undergraduate curriculum. We oversee eleven residency programs with a total enrolment of approximately 250 trainees. We have an extremely large fellowship program which sees approximately 250 fellows from 15countries coming each year to learn with our surgeons.
As Project Coordinator, Postgraduate Education Programs you will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the Department of Surgery's medical education program expansion to community sites. Working closely with the Program Directors, the Vice Chair Education and the Director, Postgraduate Education, your demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills are key to creating and sustaining a responsive and positive environment for our residents. Your outstanding organizational and communication skills will enable you to collaborate with faculty and residents to successfully navigate multiple time-sensitive deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying best practices and standardising common processes across the Department relating to residency training, including Academic Half Days, Journal Clubs, and related education development activities
- Coordinating tasks for projects with community stakeholders, Program Directors andadministrators to support the expansion of programs, ensuring alignment with program goals and fostering effective collaboration
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Analyzing processes and recommending changes for more efficient coordination of operations
- Coordinating and implementing project plans including, ensuring documentation accuracy, securing approvals, monitoring deadlines, addressing concerns proactively and within role's scope, and escalating issues to senior staff when necessary
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degreeor acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years' of relevant administration experience in a university or equivalent environment such as a teaching hospital
- Demonstrated project coordination experience, including developing, tracking, implementing and evaluating project plans
- Experience supporting postgraduate residency programs and exposure to medical education curriculum processes
- Experience analyzing and assessing data and processes and making recommendations for improvements
- Experience working with and supporting committees
- Experience conducting surveys and managing and analyzing data
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, POWER, survey tools, learning management systems and content management systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complicated regulatory guidelines effectively to faculty and staff at various levels
- Exceptional organizational skills and flexibility in adjusting to changing circumstances
- Ability to manage multifaceted, concurrent projects and tasks
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve and exercise independent judgment based on sound principles
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve department goals

USW Pay Band 12 -- $79,874. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
