About us:

The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, as well as central Business Intelligence and Document Management applications.

Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration or their designate, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the University. Through your efforts in this position, you will directly help improve the University’s administrative management and student systems.

As Sr. Project Manager you will be working closely with our stakeholders, managing and leading variety of priority IT initiatives including development and implementation of strategic plans and roadmaps enabling transformation and modernization of University's critical platforms and enterprise applications.

In this position you will be project managing and leading critical transformation initiatives including development of strategies and roadmaps, and implementation of variety of projects focusing on transformation and modernization of University's critical platforms and enterprise applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Develop Project Outlines, Project Charters, Project Plans an Schedules including stakeholder engagement plans, communication and change management plans, risks and issues management plans.
  • Proactively manage assigned projects ensuring project risks and issues are addressed and mitigation plans are implemented, and project objectives are achieved as per the approved scope of work, project budget, project milestones and deliverables, and assigned resources.
  • Establish appropriate Project governance structure and ensure timely delivery of status/ progress reports, proposals, change management requirements and presentations as may be required.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts, including resource allocations and any gaps.
  • Coach, mentor, engage and motivate project team members and any contractors, and influence them to take positive actions and accountability for their assigned tasks/project deliverables.
  • Establish and build positive relationship with all project stakeholders and ensure timely communications and engagements. Liaise with project sponsors on an ongoing basis.
  • Together with project sponsors and stakeholders, establish project success criteria and key performance indicators that will be used to measure project success and business value.
  • With input from project team members, stakeholders and sponsors, establish project budget proposals and recommendations for approvals. Establish project budget baseline and manage project to the approved budget.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned, and document recommendations report outlining successful and un-successful project elements.
  • Deliver timely project status/progress reports to project steering committee and project sponsors, as per the established project governance and reporting structures.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree, Project Management certification (PMP) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Eight years or more managing large and complex projects.
  • Experience leading and managing large and complex Modernization and Transformation type initiatives, including development of Strategic plans and Roadmaps.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies and practices. At least 2 years of experience with implementing projects using Agile and DevOps methodology.
  • Good working knowledge of current Cloud Platforms and related Technologies, including Web Services, Service Oriented Architecture, Microservices Architecture, distributed architecture, security protocols, identity and access management technologies.
  • Familiarity with Cloud data repositories, APIs, and operating systems. Understanding differences between and benefits of SaaS vs. PaaS vs. IaaS cloud platforms.
  • Fluency with standard Microsoft programs, including Excell, Word, Powerpont, etc.
  • Proven project management skills, including methodology, research, planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong Analytical skills, able to take business requirements and translate them into models and concepts.
  • Excellent presentation and written communications skills, ability to clearly communicate complex ideas using diagrams, models and prototypes. Able to effectively facilitate stakeholders meetings and drive to shared agreement/consensus building.
  • Exceptional leadership and teamworking skills. Able to effectively collaborate, influence and coordinate with team members, project sponsors and stakeholders.

USW Pay Band 18 -- $112,241 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $143,537. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
