Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will support research and administrative aspects of projects in the area of wildfire, lidar, and fuel modelling in the Institute of Forestry and Conservation within the Daniels Faculty.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Following rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies
- Maintaining a database
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in wildfire science, risk, and hazard modelling.
- Experience in Forestry research.
- Knowledge of terrestrial lidar scanning technology and data structures.
- Experience abiding rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies.
- Experience collating and organizing materials.
- Experience coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items.
- Experience coding quantitative data, maintaining a database and generating reports.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; with sensitivity to diverse communication styles and value systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), knowledge of R and Python programming and GitHub with the ability to stay current and learn new applications and technology related to research activities.
- Proficiency working in Windows and Linux environments

USW Pay Band 05 -- $52,481. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $67,115. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
