About us:

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health is a Faculty of the University of Toronto that originated as one of the Schools of Hygiene begun by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1927. The School, which played a critical role in the COVID-19 pandemic response, went through a dramatic renaissance after the 2003 SARS crisis and it is now the largest public health school in Canada, with more than 850 faculty, 1,000 students, and research and training partnerships with institutions throughout Toronto and the world. With $76 million in research funding per year, including more than $31.5 million held at DLSPH, the School contributes to improving population health and health policy and health systems through discoveries and innovation in data science and AI, maternal, child and reproductive health, climate change [response], implementation and improvement sciences, preventable disease through vaccines and prevention through [and] wellness such as with diabetes, comparative health policy, sustainable and equitable health systems, global and Indigenous health, among many other areas.

The Institute of Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) has the largest and most productive group of scholars working in health policy, health services, health informatics, clinical epidemiology and health care research in Canada today. IHPME is housed within the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, which is the largest public health school in Canada, with more than 850 faculty, 1,000 students, and research and training partnerships with institutions throughout Toronto and the world.

The Health System Performance Network HSPN is a collaborative network of investigators, visiting scholars, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and research staff working with health system leaders, and policy-makers to improve the management and performance of Ontario’s health system. HSPN receives funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health to undertake evaluations of Ontario’s most important health policy innovations, particularly those that advance population health and integrated care.

Your opportunity:

As the Research Officer – Evaluation, you will be an important contributor to the HSPN team in informing on program planning activities by conducting detailed analysis and evaluation. You will utilize your strong qualitative and quantitative research methods to conduct systematic literature reviews and deliver presentations at conferences. You will also utilize your strong collaboration skills to maintain networks and monitor project activities with project partners. Together, with your skills and experience, you will contribute to the mission and goals of our research team.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activitiesConducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Delivering presentations at conferences
  • Tracking and monitoring research activities and scheduling day-to-day project activities
  • Drafting and submitting documented procedures to the Research Ethic Board for approval
  • Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

 

  • Research-based Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in research evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience executing qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Demonstrated experience conducting systematic literature reviews
  • Demonstrated experience tracking research project activities
  • Experience delivering presentations at conferences
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills (oral and written) with an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Ability to work independently and as part of ateam
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and proven ability to meet deadlines

We are hiring for two (2) term positions of 1 year.
