The Discovery Pharmacy is an accredited pharmacy which provides everyday health care as an enterprise dedicated to research, education, and innovation. Embedded within the University of Toronto’s interdisciplinary health care education and research eco-system, the Discovery Pharmacy provides health care programs delivered by members of more than one health discipline. It also provides a training venue to educate students in health and other disciplines, conduct medication and health care services research and to support the physical, mental health and overall wellness of U of T’s faculty, staff, students and wider community.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Discovery Pharmacy, you will provide support to the pharmacy team of staff-appointed and casual staff involved with the coordinationand delivery of experiential education, research and pharmacy clinical services.

As an integral part of the Discovery Pharmacy (DRx) team, the successful incumbent will act as a trusted liaison between our senior leadership team, Faculty of Pharmacy Program Leads, and internal and external partners to support the advancement of the DRx educational and research mission. You will be responsible for coordinating activities associated with conducting cutting-edge health research, including the testing of innovations in health care, pharmacy practice research, medication safety and effectiveness. You will assist in the scale up and translation of research into practice, education, and policy, by implementing a variety of standard operating procedures, processes and systems. The successful incumbent will ensure that the day-to-day research operations of the Discovery Pharmacy are carried out in a manner that is efficient, effective and aligned with the policies, objectives and goals of the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and the mission, vision and priorities of the University of Toronto.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Promoting research initiatives to increase program visibility and reputation
  • Researching, analyzing and recommending grant opportunities
  • Writing grant applications
  • Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications
  • Keeping well-informed on funding opportunities and resources, application policies/procedures and key deadlines
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
  • Gathering information about prospective research initiatives

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of research related experience in a university setting
  • Previous experience working within a community or corporate pharmacy setting
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating Research Ethics Board submissions, and understanding factors related to data collection and confidentiality
  • Knowledgeable about pharmaceutical drug safety and effectiveness
  • Excellent working knowledge with pharmacy systems and platforms (technology, information systems, research data collection platforms)
  • Excellent organizational, time management, administrative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal), with ability to work independently but also effectively as part of a multi-professional project team
  • Ability to exercise initiative, tact, discretion, and to work under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple processes
  • Exercises strong judgment, attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy


Assets (Nonessential):

 

  • Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Kroll Pharmacy Management System would be considered an asset
  • Experience with RedCap
  • Experience with Pharmaconnect

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 11 -- $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
