Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Residence Life, the Residence Life Education Program Coordinator creates a positive and collaborative environment for UTSC residence students to grow, live and learn.
The Residence Life Education Program Coordinator is a key member of the Student Housing & Residence Life team who is responsible for the successful delivery of residence education and programming initiatives. This role is responsible for developing residence educational programming, learning outcomes, evaluating programs, and facilitating workshops.
The Residence Life Education Program Coordinator will also play a critical role in executing, assessing, and advancing the residence educational curriculum and will draw on the Student Development Theory to foster thriving, development-oriented communities. This position will also maintain and further develop effective collaborations and campus partnerships that advance departmental, divisional, and institutional priorities. Other key responsibilities include: maintaining a strong working knowledge of event planning and risk management principles; providing guidance to the Scarborough Campus Residence Council student group on navigating campus policies, protocols, and initiatives; developing strategies and content for marketing and/or promotional materials that maximize outreach to students and; directing the activities of casual staff and work-study students.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities (e.g., leading residence orientation and transition programming, coordinating and overseeing the execution the Residence Curriculum, advising Scarborough Campus Residence Council, developing leadership initiatives and opportunities for residents, leading special projects & events)
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives (e.g., assessment initiatives for the Residence Life team including the mid-year and exit housing surveys, as well as ongoing assessment of the residence curriculum)
- Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
- Developing a comprehensive formal training program that supports operational objectives (e.g., coordinating the Residence Life team training in May and August as well as monthly professional development opportunities for student staff)
- Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts (e.g., maintaining and further developing collaborative programs and services with key stakeholders)
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
- Maintaining information on digital platforms (e.g., website maintenance, social media management, brand management)
- Coordinating staff recruitment activities with contacts
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum four (4) years of related experience in a student residence setting developing, implementing and evaluating educational programming and student engagement activities for post-secondary students
- Experience in residence program advising, community development, and providing referrals to students on available resources and supports
- Demonstrated experience with student-centered, developmental approach to working with students, with integration of principles of equity, diversity and inclusion
- Demonstrated experience creating learning outcomes, assessments, and resources for students
- Experience supervising and training casual staff and students
- Experience advising and collaborating with student leaders and student groups
- Demonstrated experience and ability to lead, train, coach and motivate student staff
- Must possess the ability to relate to students in a manner which builds trust and confidence and demonstrate the ability to facilitate programs. Experience working with diverse student communities and have a commitment to improving and enhancing the student experience
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and achieve established goals
- Proven ability to provide support to individuals in distress
- Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills, as well as presentation/facilitation skills
- Ability to exercise patience, tact and sound judgment when dealing with difficult situations/issues
- Ability to prioritize work, particularly during peak periods and meet deadlines
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), website management
- Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment

- Experience with residence records management systems (i.e. StarRez) and Student Information Systems

USW Pay Band 12 -- $79,874. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
