Description:

 

The Chestnut Residence and Conference Centre is a University of Toronto operated facility located inthe heart of downtown Toronto, offering residence, summer residence, convention and banquet services.
Under the supervision of the Rooms Manager, the candidate will clean and supply all assigned rooms in addition to, reporting all damage, mechanical deficiencies, suspicious activities, in accordance with all housekeeping procedures and standards, safety and security rules and regulations to ensure student/guest satisfaction.

 

Typical Duties:

  • Deep clean the following areas in the bathrooms: shower, tub shower curtain/liner, doors, floors, vanity, sink, mirror, and hair dryer
  • Clean walls, remove wall marks and spot clean for any spills and stains both in furniture and fixtures
  • Clean and dust furniture
  • Clean sofa, chairs and cushions
  • Collects waste and deposits it in general receptacle
  • Clean lamps, telephones, windows, baseboard, ledges and light switches
  • Dust pictures, mirrors and frames
  • Align drapes when necessary
  • Clean under beds
  • Report damaged areas to the Rooms Manager
  • Respond to all requests from housekeeping office
  • Inspect carpets, upholstery and vinyl to assess the level of cleaning required
  • Vacuum carpets to remove loose dirt and debris
  • Apply cleaning solutions to carpets using appropriate equipment
  • Use specialized tools to remove stubborn stains and dirt
  • Rinse carpets thoroughly to remove cleaning solutions and residue
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education:

  • Completion of tenth (10th) grade or equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience cleaning in a large institutional or commercial establishment is an asset.

 

Other:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written).
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision within a diverse community.
  • Professional attitude and motivated.
  • Must have great attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift, bend and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push up to 50lbs and lift up to 50lbs.
  • First Aid, CPR and WHMIS training is an asset.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced environments

 

Assets:

  • Specialized experience cleaning and shampoo carpets is an asset
