The Buddhism, Psychology & Mental Health Program at New College seeks a sessional lecturer from January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025 to teach the following in person course:
BPM339H1S: MIND, CONSCIOUSNESS, AND SELF
Course Description
BPM339H1S – An interdisciplinary study of theories of mind, consciousness, and the self, placing Buddhist traditions in dialogue with scientific theories of the mind in psychology.
Estimated Course Enrolment: 45 students

Schedule: Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Note: This course will be delivered in person. However, please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.
Salary (inclusive of vacation pay):
Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90
Sessional Lecturer I (Long-term): $9,930.79
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77
Sessional Lecturer II (Long-term): $10,326.62
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
Sessional Lecturer III (Long-term): $10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail
Minimum Qualifications
Completed or nearly completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in Buddhist Studies and psychological and/or philosophical theories of mind. Teaching experience required
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant teaching experience at the university level preferred.
Responsibilities
Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; and holding regular office hours.
