Description: Sessional Instructional Assistant - BIOB12H3 - Cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory - Winter 2025

The following course requires Sessional Instructional Assistants. 

BIOB12H3 - Cell and Molecular Biology Laboratory - Winter 2025

A practical introduction to experimentation in cell and molecular biology. Lab modules will introduce students to concepts and techniques in the general preparation of solutions and buffers, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microscopy, data analysis, and science communication. This core laboratory course is the gateway for Molecular Biology & Biotechnology Specialists to upper level laboratory offerings.

 

Winter appointments begin January 6, 2025 and end May 6, 2025

Minimum Qualifications Includes: ability, academic qualifications, suitability for the position and appropriate background in the subject/specialty. Previous lab experience in cell biology and molecular biology required. Must be BioSafety Certified (proof required) or be willing to undergo BioSafety training prior to taking up the position.

Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.

 

Duties: Duties for the position may vary and include: preparation for classes, setting up and demonstrating labs in person, invigilation and marking. Specific duties are defined by the instructor in charge of the course. Please note duties for this position are performed in person at the UTSC campus.

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. 

 

 It is understood that some announcements of vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolment.

 

Salary: $52.26/hour, plus 4% vacation pay. 

Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.  

 

 

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
