Position: Sessional Lecturer (Lab Coordinator)
Course Title and Code: CHM237H1Y – Introductory Inorganic Chemistry II
Course Description: This course is a continuation of CHM236H1 which further studies the chemistry of elements across the periodic table. It will cover topics that include the periodic properties of the elements, the structures, bonding and properties of main group compounds and transition metal complexes, inorganic solid-state materials, and solid-state chemistry with applications in advanced technologies. A strong emphasis on developing laboratory techniques and communication skills is made through the practical component of the course. CHM237H1 is strongly recommended for students exploring experimental synthetic chemistry as part of their degree program.
Estimated TA support: 280 hours
Estimated course enrolment: 40 students
In-person class schedule: Tuesday, and Wednesday (9:00 - 1:00 pm)

Sessional dates of appointment: May 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025 (0.50 FCEs)

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry or a closely related field is required. Experience lecturing and/or coordinating laboratories in inorganic chemistry at the university level will be preferred.
Description of duties: The Department of Chemistry requires a sessional lecturer to coordinate in-person laboratories in CHM237H1 (Introductory Inorganic Chemistry II) during the 2025 Summer session. Duties include the responsibility of effectively coordinating in-person labs with all of the attendant organization issues of laboratory preparation and delivery, supervision of lab demonstrators, invigilating and marking tests and exams, course evaluations, and holding office hours.
