APD5008H Special Topics in Applied Psychology and Human Development: Master's Level - Well-being and Internalizing Disorders
Course description:
In this course, we examine the emotional health and well-being of children and youth. How do we understand happiness and what does it take to thrive in the face of stress and adversity?  We also explore "internalizing" psychological disorders, such as depression and anxiety.  In our examination of both ends of the spectrum of emotional well-being, we ask about the role of classrooms and schools in promoting child adjustment.  How can coping, hardiness, and emotional resilience be promoted and emotional disorders be prevented and treated?

Salary: CUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications:
1- Candidate must have a doctoral degree in Psychology;          

2- Expertise in content area;                                                          

3- Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching graduate courses, with expertise in content area.     
Preferred Qualifications:
1 - Individuals with demonstrated experience with related course content; 
2 - Demonstrated scholarship in the area of the course topic;
3- Prior experience teaching online courses preferred. 
Description of duties:
1) Teach a minimum of 36 hours.
2) Prepare teaching resources for each class and provide relevant materials.
3) Assess and evaluate students' work and provide a final course grade according to OISE/UT grading practices.
4) Be available for informal meetings/communications with students as necessary.

 

There is a possibility that part or all of a course offered during Fall, Winter or Year may require online teaching and timetable adjustments, given community health considerations related to the pandemic. Successful candidates will be contacted to determine online course delivery needs.
